Using tools from the Adobe Suite, such as Premiere Pro and Animate, I made these short video pieces, which are all around a couple minutes long or less. While I did add some amusing elements into my pieces in the way of sound effects and visuals, some of my video works transition from more lighthearted feelings to more serious tones. Either that, or the videos have a more serious meaning overall, in which case I tried to convey these tones with audio and visuals, as well. Moreover, I included some simple video edits too, like fades to black, jump cuts, and wipe transitions. While I know that I still have room to improve upon my video editing skills, this is an art form that I really enjoy doing, so I welcome the challenge.
I made this video to honor Akira Toriyama's legacy, as I made this some time after I found out about his passing. He was such a large inspiration to so many people, like me, so this video was my way of saying "thank you for all that you've done" to him. Furthermore, this also give him what I believe to be a proper sendoff, considering all the positive things he had done in the digital arts and all the powerful, important messages he imparted to his audience. The illustration I made is meant to be me, but in an art style similar to Mr. Toriyama's, wishing him well in the afterlife.
I display my distaste for doing certain kinds of school work such as writing essays; while I may be pretty good at it, it's not something I really enjoy doing. Despite that, I still try to evoke this feeling of dislike in a humorous way, so as to keep my audience engaged and entertained.
For this video, I wanted to have a more serious tone, which regards the day-to-day life of my college experience. While new days keep coming and I learn new things, the sense of "sameness" because of similar, tired routines in day-to-day life starts to make the days blur together.
The title of this video explains the content well; the video explores my routine in the mornings to get ready for school. I used numerous sound effects to try and make things funny for the audience. Not only that, but I think it adds a bit of spice into what seems like an otherwise mundane video of a morning routine.
This was the first video project I'd done that I was proud of, and alludes to "chance." I thought was well-represented by the gacha game called "Dragon Ball Legends," as getting most of the characters you want in that game is very chance-dependent. I opted to go for more of a text-commentary style of video-making with some humor added in, the way that some video game content creators do. This is due to the fact that some of them have been sources of inspiration to me, like "ZenkaiTru" and "Gaming Next Door," both of whom cover "DBL" content.
Digital Video, After Effects & Premiere Pro
Using Adobe After Effects for the first time, I learned how to make custom objects, make them move, have them decelerate and accelerate, and so on. I then applied these concept to a short Godzilla animatic video, as I thought it would be a fun idea to try. I also learned some new effects which could be applied to my projects in the future, such as a glow effect. I added in sound effects with Premiere pro, as well.
